About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon on R. da Mouraria, Bandida da Praça effortlessly blends the vibrant spirit of a café, bar, brunch spot, and health food restaurant into one delightful destination. This charming locale invites locals and travelers alike to savor an eclectic menu that champions fresh, artisanal flavors crafted with care.

The moment you step inside, the cozy ambiance welcomes you with an inviting buzz—a perfect backdrop for everything from a casual coffee catch-up to a leisurely brunch or evening cocktail. The friendly and attentive staff elevate the experience, ensuring each visit feels warm and personal, a sentiment echoed by many delighted guests.

Bandida da Praça’s menu is a celebration of both traditional Portuguese flavors and innovative health-conscious creations. Their Pink Cappuccino is a visual and sensory treat—its delicate rosy hue coupled with a creamy, smooth texture makes every sip a joyful indulgence. Those craving savory delights can’t go wrong with the Chouriço da Praça, a robust, smoky sausage that pairs beautifully with the freshly baked croissant mit Käse or the hearty Tosti Met Kip, a toastie layered with tender chicken and ripe tomatoes. For a lighter but equally satisfying bite, the Brouchettes offer skewers of vibrant, flavor-packed ingredients that showcase the café’s dedication to quality and taste.

Guests looking for something sweet will find it hard to resist the Bolos Caseiros—homemade cakes that melt in your mouth—and the luscious Zitronenkuchen, a zesty lemon cake that perfectly balances tangy and sweet notes. Pair these with a refreshing glass of crisp Vino Verde or one of the café’s hand-crafted cocktails to elevate the experience even further.

For those on the go, Bandida da Praça offers an enticing almoço take away menu featuring artisanal homemade products like Bacalhau à Braz, a classic Portuguese dish with a comforting, hearty character; fresh Tapas de queijos e charcutaria for sharing; or a sweet indulgence like the Panqueca Banoffee. Their beverage selection includes everything from energizing green juices and frothy cappuccinos to ice coffee lattes and local beers such as Cerveja Sagres, ensuring every moment is perfectly complemented.

Visitors consistently praise the heartfelt service and authentic flavors. Orlando Griffiths fondly recalls the welcoming atmosphere and the “excellent homemade pastel de nata,” highlighting how the staff’s kindness made their experience feel very special. Jef P. Cherry appreciated the healthy offerings and good prices, noting the owner's warmth and the convenient location near the iconic tram 28 stop. Meanwhile, Mark de Bruijne’s family enjoyed a varied lunch featuring tasty toasties, fresh juices, and refreshing cocktails with stunning views of the nearby square, describing the service as outstanding. Marie Thoris, a fan of nondairy options, found joy in the cinnamon oat milk latte and the sizable, flavorful croissant sandwiches, while Jan Clierinck discovered a surprising delight with the unique “Purgatory Eggs” dish, perfect for a quick yet satisfying stop.

Bandida da Praça is more than just a place to eat and drink—it’s a vibrant community hub that blends tradition and modernity with a heartfelt dedication to quality. We had lunch here after visiting the Castelo. Nice café with a lovely view on the nearby square. My daughter enjoyed a lovely croissant with Nutella and we ate a toast with chicken, cheese and tomatoes and a baguette. It was a very tasty lunch while enjoying a nice cocktail, beer and a fresh juice for the little lady. Would definitely recommend enjoying your lunch at this café. Service was outstanding, obrigado!

We had great service and really enjoyed the food. They have non-dairy options for coffee which is a huge plus for me. Delicious cinnamon Oat milk latte. We enjoyed the chorizo plate as well. Croissant sandwiches were large and flavorful. Would recommend, great for people watching.

Purgatory Eggs! No idea such a dish existed so was glad to have this instead of a Coffee while ladies were jewelry shopping nearby.

We had the most lovely brunch here. The food was so flavorful. Make sure to get the pastel de natas (homemade by our server herself!). Great service and a beautiful ambiance.

The food was amazing. The toasted butter croissant with jam was to die for, a great mix of salty buttery and sweet from the very fresh ham. We also tried the sardine toast. The tomatoes and bread were very fresh with grilled sardines on top. Make sure you try the pastel de nata so yummy with creamy center with crispy buttery crust ours was still warm when served. The outdoor seating is lovely
